Alternatives

A Mage.space alternative with subscription optional, an open API, and credits that do not expire

Yes, if you are moving off Mage, the generator at mage.space that people also look for as the Mage AI image generator. Vellria makes uncensored images and video and is built the opposite way on the axes that usually decide this move: credits paid for up front by default rather than a required monthly membership, a balance no billing cycle clears unless you choose the optional monthly plan, and a REST API any account can call without applying. It is not free to try, though. New accounts open at zero and nothing renders before the first top-up, so if you want to make something before paying anything, better to learn it in the first paragraph than the eighth.

Free to start: a new account created with Google gets 20 free credits, valid for 7 days (about 10 images on Z-Image Turbo Uncensored), and every signed-in account gets free daily uses of the NSFW prompt generator and the image to prompt tool.

What rules Vellria out

The first disqualifier is the price of entry. A new account created with Google gets 20 credits as a gift, valid for 7 days, and after that nothing renders until a top-up clears. If generating for a while before paying is the point, this is not the tool, and our Perchance comparison looks at when staying free is the better call.

Mage's plans are sold on an unlimited footing; nothing here is. Each run draws down a prepaid balance, which is the price of having no monthly floor: skip a month and you have spent nothing.

A plan you renew, or a balance you spend

Everything this page cites from Mage, its FAQ included, comes from one page: its membership page, read on 11 September 2026 (mage.space/pricing now redirects there). Mage is subscription-first: monthly membership tiers, with membership Gems that its FAQ says expire after 30 days, alongside Gems bought for pay-per-generation use. Its membership table caps video by tier, with no video on the entry tier. Mage names Stripe as its billing partner on that page; we opened no account, so that describes that page on that date rather than its logged-in purchase flow.

Against that, Vellria's pay-as-you-go credits carry no membership and nothing on a timer by default, though an optional monthly plan is available if you would rather have one. Credits land once a payment on our partner's checkout goes through, by card or by another option your country offers, and the balance moves only when you start a run. Gems that lapse after 30 days have no counterpart here: a balance left alone in March is still there in May. Nor is video held behind a tier. Every image and video model opens to any account holding the credits, and each one's price sits on its own page and on the pricing page.

Refunds differ too. Mage states that it typically does not offer refunds, citing the unlimited nature of its plans. Our rules are narrower and written down in the refund policy: a run that fails gives its credits back without anyone asking, and for credits you never used, you can ask for your money back from the console's support page, where each request is judged on its own.

Automation, and where the API sits

Mage's FAQ states that automation is strictly forbidden on Mage, and tells business users to contact it about API access. The API itself is not public: Mage's own FAQ calls it a premium offering in limited beta and says "We are currently at capacity", and no api., docs. or developer. subdomain resolved when we checked on 11 September 2026. Each model page, for example Seedream 5 Lite or Qwen 3 Pro, shows the id and the sizes to send, and the NSFW image API page has the request shape.

On Vellria, scripting the service is the intended use rather than a breach. You make a key in the console yourself, with no form and no queue, put it in the Authorization header, and send a model id, a prompt and that model's options. The run starts asynchronously; your script keeps the generation id and checks back until the result is ready. The guard rails are published per-minute limits instead of a ban, and a request over the limit gets a 429 whose Retry-After header tells your code how long to wait. The API docs have the shapes, and the Civitai alternative sets the same key-and-balance setup beside a platform whose API is open to scripts.

Try it with a ready prompt

Each prompt opens in Studio with the text already in the box and the model selected; change anything you like before you run it.

  • Image prompt

Fine-art nude of an adult woman seated on a wooden stool in a sunlit studio, back to the camera, chiaroscuro lighting, charcoal grey backdrop, medium format look, sharp detail.

  • Image prompt

Switching from Mage in 3 steps

  1. Sign up with Google

Create an account with Google: a new account gets 20 free credits, valid for 7 days, once per person. An account made with an email and password works too, without the gift.

  2. Paste your prompt

Open an image model in Studio and paste a prompt you used on Mage, written out in full sentences. The model page shows the price before you run it.

  3. Turn the image into a video

Send the finished image to a video model as its start frame and describe the movement. Video is priced per second, and the cost is shown before the clip starts.

FAQ ( 4 )

Frequently asked questions

Can I use the API without applying for access?

Yes. Keys are self-serve: generate one in the console and it works at once, with no application form or waiting list. Mage's own FAQ, read on 11 September 2026, describes its API as a premium offering in limited beta, says "We are currently at capacity", and states that automation is strictly forbidden on Mage.

Can I pay with a card?

Yes. Payment happens on our partner's hosted checkout, which takes cards plus options that vary by country, and credits appear once it clears; no plan is required, though an optional monthly one exists. Mage names Stripe as its billing partner on its membership page, read on 11 September 2026, though we did not see its logged-in purchase flow.

Do my credits expire at the end of the month?

No. Nothing resets monthly here: a balance stays on the account until runs use it up. Mage's FAQ says its membership Gems expire after 30 days, alongside Gems bought for pay-per-generation use.

Can I try it for free?

Yes, to start. A new account created with Google gets 20 free credits, valid for 7 days, once per person, and they work on every image and video model. After that, credits are bought before you generate; a monthly plan is optional.
